Works by Jenny Turner
Artist's Statement:
This body of Jenny's work reflects the shifting tones and moods of Blackheath's changing seasons. Sunlight throughout each day, falling on flowers, fruits and leaves in her garden, offered a delightful range of inspirations and cause for contemplation. The paintings deliver a richness of colour and gently convey a sense of seasonal rhythms. This collection represents her last year in her beloved Blackheath.
Works by Clare Lewis
Artist's Statement:
For this exhibition I have painted a range of cloudscapes, landscapes and still life.
Mostly my landscape works are inspired from time spent at our off grid property on the land of the Gundungarra and Dharawal people known as the Southern Highlands. I always get up early, take a coffee, camera and sketchbook and walk. The first stop is the lookout. I am always hopeful the mist will be sitting in the valley, to stand there and watch the mist appear and disappear and move through is magical. When I paint I hope to convey some of that beauty and atmosphere.
I am obsessed with clouds, their colours and how they interact with each other as they shape shift across the sky. I find them fascinating and also very beautiful. I aim to capture just a little of the joy they give me when I paint them.
My still life works vary, sometimes suggesting a narrative, other times remaining simple and graphic. Highlighting the beauty of every day items through a play on light and shadow.
