VERONICA O'LEARY

ABOUT VERONICA O'LEARY

Veronica is a visual artist and arts educator who works from her studio in Tathra on the South Coast of NSW. She has been artist in residence in many places throughout Australia recording and painting the narratives of place. She also worked as the court artist for the ABC for the duration of the Lindy Chamberlain trial. Her collection of 182 drawings from the trial were purchased by the National Museum of Australia and are housed in Canberra at the National Museum.
In 2020 her large painting “our land is burning” won the Hangers Choice and the People’s Choice awards in the prestigious Glover Prize for landscape painting.
Her current work is focused on still life painting and the pleasures of the shared table and the narratives of everyday tablescapes. Her still life painting is about elevating the ordinary into something beautiful.
She has exhibited widely throughout Australia and has been in many major prizes for her still life paintings- the National Emerging Art Prize 2022/23, Dutch Still life Painting at West End Artspace Melbourne and at the Affordable Art Fair Melbourne 2023.
Currently she is exhibiting at Project Gallery 90 Paddington Sydney and at The Hive Gallery Ocean Grove Victoria.
