'The slippage of time'

'The slippage of time'

oil on canvas 50x66.6cm framed

by Cameron Morton

'The Slippage of Time' uses a humble bunch of bananas to chart the quiet progression of days. Arranged on a small bowl, the fruit shifts in colour from green to yellow to black, a natural gradient that mirrors the way time advances and ages all things. On the ground, an opened banana lies with its peel exposed, and a tiny miniature figure is caught mid-slip. A humorous visual cliché that becomes a metaphor for how easily time can catch us off guard. A watch placed within the scene reinforces the theme, anchoring the composition in the constant, inevitable movement of time itself.
