PHILLIPA DALEY
ABOUT PHILLIPA DALEY
Philippa launched her painting practice six years ago and has studied under the tutelage of artist Matilda Michell for the last three years. Her interest lies in capturing light and shadow, exploring how the light as it changes throughout the day has the ability to transform domestic objects, rendering familiar things newly beautiful. She loves painting objects that are meaningful to her - old pottery collected by her grandmother back in the fifties, items that she’s seen used all her life. In her work she aims to strike a balance between the quiet comfort of the familiar and the beauty brought to them by the lighting and composition.
Philippa paints with oil on canvas and, while mainly focused on still life, is developing a love of painting portraits and landscapes.
