Artist's Statement:
"‘Moments of Still’ is a quiet meditation on everyday scenes and subjects, informed by a nostalgic desire to capture and preserve the ephemeral. This body of work encapsulates my ongoing practice, with a particular focus on the unique architecture and coastlines of Sydney.
I find myself continually drawn to intersections and transitions; places where the built and natural environment intertwine, figures captured candidly within the landscape, seasonal foliage and fleeting states of light and shadow.
Central to my practice is a desire to capture the intangible essence of moments, people, places and things. Nevertheless, the tangible remains important in my work, where subjects are depicted with painterly realism, mostly truthful to form, light and colour. A careful combination of intricate detail and loose, intuitive mark making are employed to suggest both physicality and feeling. In essence, I approach all genres as if they are a portrait." - Zoe Willey
