JAMES ROBERTS

ABOUT JAMES ROBERTS

James Roberts studied at the Bournemouth & Poole College of Art & Design in the UK. For over 35 years he has been working as a painter and media director and is currently living and working in Sydney, Australia.

Painting has always been a constant meditative practice for James. Lately, art and art-making provide an even greater flame of inspiration, offering solace, newfound comfort, and inner peace. Recent works find inspiration and subject matter in rural Australia, the ocean and still-life subjects, with ideas of isolation, quietness, contemplation, memories, solitude, and a momentary view - leaving, belonging, and returning.

James uses part representational techniques: mainly painting on wooden panels and linen with charcoal underdrawing, mixed media, and wax mediums.

"In every painting, there is a journey from inspiration to realisation. Every painting holds a memory of that journey." - James Roberts
