CLARE LEWIS
ABOUT CLARE LEWIS
Clare Lewis grew up on the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England surrounded by countryside and coastline. She studied photography at Westminster, London before moving in to her oil painting practice, focusing mainly on landscape and still life. After relocating permanently to Australia she spent a year living and working in Kununurra in the East Kimberley. Clare’s time is now shared between Sydney and her off grid property on bushland down south. Her landscape works are an emotional response to immersing herself in the stunning natural bushland surrounding her property on the land of the Gundungarra and Dharawal people known as the Southern Highlands. Clare’s finalist artworks have been shown at various galleries including Saint Cloche, Cellblock - National Art School and the Garden Gallery in the Royal Botanic Gardens. She has successfully exhibited in group shows and a duo show at Project Gallery in their Paddington and Woollahra locations. She has contributed work to The Unbound Art Show and Incognito Art Shows to assist with raising funds for Barnardo’s, The Art Factory, Studio A and We Are Studios.
