ABOUT OLIVIA GODBEE

Born 1991 in Sydney, Olivia Godbee is a visual artist living in Sydney and working primarily in oil paint. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Art School in 2012 and has a background in children’s picture book illustration and teaching Visual Arts at a secondary level. In 2019 she was selected as a finalist in the Blacktown City Art Prize and as a finalist in the 2022 Little Things Art Prize. In 2023, she exhibited The Tea Rooms, a series of interior scenes as part of a 3 person show exhibited at Project Gallery 90. Her work explores themes of ephemerality, presence and absence. Her interior and still life paintings consider the unknown or forgotten figures who have passed through spaces and the objects that are imbued with their memories.
